ASSESS YOUR TRAUMA
Many people are not aware of what mental/emotional trauma is. They understand physical trauma but not something that is less obvious. In our culture, we are taught to just keep going even if we are hurting. We suppress our feelings and push through, not realizing that we actually have trauma. This suppression, if held onto long enough, can cause not only mental/emotional problems but also physical problems. Autoimmune diseases, cancers, heart problems, anxiety, depression, and more can be linked to underlying trauma. This trauma is held in our bodies. Because of this, it is important that we can recognize our trauma. Then we can take steps to allow our bodies to release the trauma. Unfortunately, many of my clients have told me that they didn't realize how much trauma they truly had.
Releasing the trauma isn't necessarily instantaneous, however, it can happen quickly. Often there are many layers that a person must work through before being completely relieved. All of my clients have told me they had relief with the first session, even if there was still more to be addressed.
Below are some online self-assessments. The first link is for generalized trauma symptoms. Look at the list and see how many you have. Then follow the second link and take the PTSD quiz. This will help give you an indication of your trauma levels. There are some types and intensities of trauma that I am not able to help with. In that case, I will refer you to a mental health practitioner.
